Hardwood Styles

Hardwood flooring is available in a universe of styles, with options available to fulfill every aesthetic desire. With thousands of combination possibilities, choose your favorite color, texture, finish, size, and style. There are rustic, weathered planks for those who like a country-inspired style, as well as vivid glazes and glossy finishes for those preferring a more contemporary look.

Types of Wood

There are many, many types of trees residing in the world’s forest so naturally, there are many types of hardwood floors as well. Hardwood flooring is made from many different wood species, including mahogany, pine, oak, maple, birch, chestnut, cherry, and bamboo. Each species has a distinct appearance, wear ability, and grain pattern.

Solid Hardwood vs. Engineered Hardwood

Solid hardwood planks, comprised of solid pieces of natural hardwood, are the traditional method of hardwood flooring, but it doesn’t necessarily fare well in humid climates. With engineered hardwood flooring, we can offer our clients an easier way. Engineered hardwood is built in up to 9 layers of hardwood and plywood veneers, which are pressed together to form a highly durable cross-grain. The end result is a denser floor that can withstand some levels of moisture. Engineered hardwood also tends to be more affordable than its solid cousin.

Where to Install Hardwood

Engineered hardwood can be installed in most types of indoor environments, with the exception of bathrooms and kitchens. Since it’s made to handle heavy use, resist scratches, and won’t shrink or expand from climate fluctuations, engineered hardwood continues to grow in popularity.
